TiltFlow Privacy Policy

What TiltFlow does on your device

TiltFlow scrolls the page when you tilt your phone. To do this it uses:

• Your phone's motion sensor, to measure how far you are tilting. Sensor readings are used as they arrive and are never recorded.
• Android's Accessibility Service, to perform a vertical or horizontal swipe gesture on your behalf.

The accessibility service is the one thing TiltFlow asks you to grant. It is not a manifest permission: it is a switch you turn on yourself in Android's Accessibility settings, and you can turn it off in the same place at any time. Android provides no other way for an application to swipe on your behalf.

What TiltFlow does not do

TiltFlow does not read the content of your screen. Its accessibility service is declared with canRetrieveWindowContent set to false, so Android does not provide it with screen contents and it is technically unable to obtain them. Within that service it is permitted to do one thing: perform gestures.

TiltFlow does not transmit anything. Beyond the accessibility service described above, the released application declares no Android permissions at all, including no internet permission, so it has no capability to send information anywhere.

TiltFlow contains no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party software development kits.

Which application is open

So that tilting only scrolls where you want it to, TiltFlow checks the name of the application currently in the foreground and compares it with the list of applications you chose. This comparison happens entirely on your device. The name is not stored, not recorded, and not sent anywhere.

To let you choose applications without requesting permission to see everything installed on your phone, TiltFlow keeps a short list of applications you have recently opened. That list is stored only on your device, and only so it can be shown back to you.

Information stored on your device

TiltFlow stores its own settings in Android's private application storage:

• the applications you chose, and how each one should behave;
• the applications you recently opened;
• your calibrated neutral position and tilt settings.

This information never leaves your device. You can delete it at any time using Android's Clear storage option, or by uninstalling TiltFlow.

Children

TiltFlow is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
